Caring for the elderly | Financial Affairs | Jobling & Knape Lancashire UK

Financial affairs when caring for the elderly

Planning the financial affairs for elderly family members or friends can give you peace of mind for the future and often save money too.  Jobling & Knape are able to assist you if, for whatever reason, you wish to appoint another person to look after your financial affairs, now or in the future. This can be done by means of a Lasting Power of Attorney.   However, a person's mental capacity may have deteriorated to the point that they cannot sign a Lasting Power of Attorney. It will then be necessary for an application to be made to the Court of Protection so that someone can be appointed by the Court.

Lasting Power of Attorney

You can appoint a relative, friend or appoint Jobling & Knape to deal with all, or part, of your financial matters.

Court of Protection

If the unthinkable happens and someone is needed to manage your affairs, we can make a Lasting Power of Attorney now to be kept just in case it is needed later. This avoids the trouble and extra expense of having to ask the Court of Protection to make the decision for you. We can again advise and deal with any application to the Court of Protection on the family's behalf where this is necessary.
