This well-established North West of England firm of Solicitors provides expertise in a number of key areas, including commercial and corporate law, commercial property, aviation and intellectual property, as well as private client, family law and personal injury.
The Firm: Jobling & Knape has been practising since the 1930’s. From the early 1980's the Firm has been based in Lancaster, Morecambe, and Great Eccleston, Lancashire, providing a full range of legal services to the area.
The Firm’s five highly-experienced partners and 11 other fee-earners, supported by about 30 other staff, provide a service of the highest quality that is responsive to clients’ needs and committed to meeting their commercial and personal objectives. The standards of service are equivalent to those of City practices but without the high overheads, enabling the Firm to operate a competitive fee structure.
In 2006 the practice purchased further premises at Aalborg Square, Lancaster, in the same block as its existing building, in anticipation of future expansion.
The Firm is willing to act as agents for other solicitors, particularly in criminal and family cases.
Types of work undertaken: Company and commercial law, including company takeovers, the pros and cons of running a business as a partnership or a limited company, and shareholder's agreements. Supply of goods matters are handled, as well as cashflow and debt collection. Advice on employment covers unfair dismissal, redundancy, sickness pay, maternity leave, contracts, disability discrimination, disciplinary proceedings, grievance procedures, working time regulations and discrimination. Commercial conveyancing deals with all aspects of freehold and leasehold property including offices, shops, industrial premises and site acquisitions/disposals. Help, guidance and representation is provided for all aspects of landlord and tenant matters and liquor licensing.
Aircraft transactions and aviation-related work are niche areas of expertise; including aircraft sale, purchase and finance, plus an escrow service. Report on title, fractional ownership, group ownership, aircraft leasing, insurance issues, aircraft accident claims and aviation-related litigation are handled. A wide range of commercial litigation is dealt with. Intellectual property advice is given on issues including ideas in a form capable of industrial application, designs, shapes or configuration of products, software programs, artistic work, logos and music. The Firm's experience includes copyright, patents, trade marks, registered designs, goodwill and passing-off, confidential information, trade secrets and competition.
An extensive personal injury background includes catastrophic claims, particularly head injuries, brain damage at birth and injuries from all types of accidents.
A full family law service is provided, together with residential conveyancing, wills, trusts and probate, and criminal law.
French and Spanish are spoken.
